Fred Smoot Arrested for Failing to Appear in Child Support Hearing

Child support- Fred SmootFormer Washington Redskins player Fred Smoot was arrested at the start of May for failing to appear in court for a child support hearing.

Smoot, age 36, who played as a cornerback for the Redskins, was arrested and held for contempt of court on a $35,000 bond.  He had been scheduled to appear for a child support hearing, but, according to a source, failed to appear in a timely manner.

Smoot is rumored to be on good terms with the children’s mother, and that he has never missed a child support payment.

Last November, however, Smoot had been arrested for domestic assault against his ex-girlfriend, but was later acquitted of the charges on the basis that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to rule either way.
